Professional pain management for the people of Hawaii

Thank you for visiting my professional website.   I have a clinic open to new patients at the Queens Pain and Spine Center, with locations at both the Punchbowl and West Oahu locations.  Please call 691-5390 for an appointment.   I am solely responsible for the content of this site, and the information and thoughts contained do not represent any organization with which I may be affiliated.

I was born on Kauai, and attended Punahou.   Following undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, my training took me to the University of Michigan for my medical degree and a Masters in clinical research, then to Stanford University for my anesthesiology residency and pain fellowship training. After serving on the clinical faculty at Stanford,  I decided to return to Hawaii to raise my family and to serve the local community.

My medical philosophy is to treat every patient as I would a family member.  The art and science of medicine require a balance of knowledge and humility.   I try to apply the most up-to-date scientific evidence while appreciating the complexity of each individual patient, especially in patients with chronic pain.  I strongly believe in empowering patients with tools, treatments, and education necessary to be an active participant in their care. I ask a lot of questions whenever I go to my own doctors, and encourage you to ask questions.

I offer non-opioid medication management and procedures such as steroid injections and medial branch blocks.   I am particularly interested in peripheral nerve pain or nerve entrapments (such as carpal tunnel, sciatica, or complex regional pain syndrome.

If you are searching medical information please visit my medical resources page.

I look forward to working together with you to help you achieve your goals.
